Registered Find Basics

Interpretation

    • NAMESTONE Colour - mid red/brown. Shape - cuboid. Two edges irregular; two non-broken edges are smooth. Flat faces are carved. Side 1 - square double border around outside. Outer border 11mm from edge. Inner border approx 5mm from outer border and parallel to outer border. Bottom left quarter of carved cross evident with central roundel and semi-circular terminals that contact the inner square border. All parts of the cross also consist of a double line averaging 4mm apart. Evidence of faintly carved letters in lower left quadrant. Side 2 - Surface damaged obscuring carving. Part of double semi-circle evident at bottom. Bottom right section of carved circle above the semi-circle. Letters clearly carved at top of fragment, larger (approx. 34mm) and more deeply incised than on other side. Weight = 1038g Dimensions = in excess of 157 x 102 x 38mm
