Layer between walls 3034 and 3037.

Interpretation

    • Sand and silt built up into a layer between 3034 and 3037. Very few pieces of pottery, but those that were found appear (to a reasonably uniformed eye) to be late or even post medieval.

Description

  • Firm
  • Mid greyish brown
  • Sandy silt
  • 10% small (<30mm3) sub-angular stones. Very infrequent shells (muscles, sea snails and limpets). Several small patches of root activity.
  • Length 1.360m Width 2.11m Depth unknown, not fully excavated
  • Overlies and between the cracks in flagstones 3036.
  • Trowel. Upper surface (5mm) was extremely friable and dry due to exposure to sun and wind.
