Short Description:
Cut for stone lined channel 2433
Issued to
Ben Swain | 14/10/2022

Interpretation

    • Construction cut for the insertion of a stone lined and capped channel, likely for drainage purposes, in the northern part of TR2W. The stone lined channel has not yet been removed and so the full profile and nature of the cut cannot yet be established, but it is visible truncating through wall F723 and is itself truncated by grave F719. The channel snakes around a large slab within layer (2380), which suggests the slab was likely in-situ at the time the channel was constructed. It may have been necessary to drain water away from whatever activity was occurring relating to the large slab - possibly a surface for an industrial activity of some description.
