Short Description:
Fill of the stone lined and capped drainage channel
Issued to
Ben Swain | 29/09/2022

Interpretation

    • Fill of a stone lined and capped drainage channel 2433. Consisting almost entirely of a rich dark silt, this represents the silting up of the drainage channel as it eventually went out of use. Of note was the regular inclusion of shell fragments within the fill, suggesting that marine shellfish processing (perhaps for food consumption) was happening wherever the water was draining from into this channel.
