Short Description:
Fill of a post hole in an alignment of three posts in the 'metalworking' area of TR2(W)

Interpretation

    • Fill of a post hole seen when excavating F239 (a potential beam slot) part of a row of post holes including features 241 and 242. Could be associated with the the wall F213, or part of an earlier structure in that area. Seems to be aligned with the wall running east to west. This fill could be the burnt remains of the post in situ. A sample of all the material excavated was kept.

    • This feature was fully excavated in 2021 and the remaining fill taken as a 100% sample in sample no. 190. It is now thought unlikely that this post hole and those adjacent were set within a beam slot, but they may still represent elements of a structure in the vicinity.
