Short Description:
Cut of small pit or dumping event/spread of waste metalworking material in the 'metalworking' area of Tr2(W)
Issued to
Jim Heffer | 16/09/2020

Interpretation

    • The cut of a possible smithy pit, it was seen after 2134 was excavated.

    • This feature was fully excavated in the 2021 season. Due to the very small and shallow nature of the feature, and upon discussion with the project metallurgist, it is now believed that this feature is likely to represent a dumping event or small spread of waste metalworking material rather than in-situ evidence of a metalworking area or smithy.
