  • I am retired but keep busy volunteering for various charities as well as digging when I get the chance
  • I have known about DigVentures for a couple of years but this is the first year I have had both the means and the opportunity to dig with you. I grew up on Tyneside and we used to visit Holy Island on school trips so when I knew you were going to be digging on Lindisfarne I couldn't resist. I'm also interested in the medieval period since helping to excavate Blackfriars in Newcastle upon Tyne many years ago, so I'm really looking forward to this.
  • 2016: The people have been the highlight for me. The people that run it, and those that I've met and worked with. I've enjoyed talking to the visitors and the locals, and they've really just made the experience for me! 2017: It’s the camaraderie, the fresh air, sunshine and lovely people, as well as daily visits from Fergus the lovely dog. Also the interest of the public who come by and want to talk to you
