  • Postgrad student in early medieval history and archaeology.
  • I'm a postgraduate student at the University of Glasgow researching the early medieval sculptured stones of south-east Scotland. I'm particularly interested in how these sculptural fragments--high cross-shafts especially--problematise what we mean by "Anglian" or "Northumbrian." When I'm not writing, stepdancing, or digging in the dirt (nota bene: the last two can be done at the same time), I usually have a fiddle in hand. Before living in Scotland, I graduated with a BA (Hons) in Classics from Stanford University (California), where I also earned a double minor in Medieval Art History & Archaeology. Early medieval Northumbria matters!
