Short Description:
Possible remnant of a wall surrounding stone lined box F729 on its southern and western sides
Issued to
Ben Swain | 30/09/2023

Interpretation

    • An L-shaped linear arrangement of stones that turns a right angle, apparently respecting the outline of stone lined box F729. This could represent some form of interior wall/surround for the stone lined box or indeed a pathway around it. Little survives except from the N-S and E-W alignment of the wall to one course with unfinished stones of no bonding. They do appear to have been intentionally laid in this position with a flush face to the external side of the structure. It is difficult to say exactly what purpose this feature held, but it a functional relationship with the stone lined box seems likely.
