Interpretation

- Cut of a grave truncating possible metalworking hearth F206. The burial, aligned East West in the early Christian tradition, was twisted on its right side from the waist up. The grave partially truncates a metalworking hearth/area of in-situ burning from above. This was visible at the bottom of the grave cut in the form of a circular shaped colour gradient from red to black to yellow clay. The inside of this appeared to be lined with possible hearth lining. At the western end of the grave, the skull of another skeleton was discovered below the bottom of the grave cut - likely indicating the presence of another burial below. This new burial must predate the metalworking hearth/area of in-situ burning.
