Short Description:
Yellow Sandy fill of ditch 2311

Interpretation
-
- This material appears to be a discreet very thin fill that may have been dumped into the ditch before numerous large boulders were then thrown in on top. It is possible this deposit may include waste mortar, explaining why it feels sandy but smooth, and together with the large boulders could represent the dumping of waste building materials. Further post-ex processing of the sample taken from this context will likely reveal much more about its content and whether or not is does indeed include mortar.
