Interpretation
-
- Bank deposit associated with the formation of ditch [10023]. Deposit can also been seen to be slumping into the ditch, later excavation of (10004) highlighted this, as the actual cut of the ditch was hidden by this slumping deposit. Formation of this bank is primarily up-cast from the creation of the ditch. Evidence of the maintenance of this bank can be seen as the top of this deposit has a high density of artefacts ranging from medieval to post-medieval in date.

- Bank deposit filled with firm, mid-yellow brown sandy clay with inclusions of moderate charcoal flecks, occasional small sub-angular pebbles and occasional chalk fragments. A number of ceramic tile fragments were recovered dating between the 13th and 15th Centuries.

- Bank deposit associated with the formation of ditch [10023]. Partially excavated in slot - not fully excavated Pottery finds are: 4 pieces of Late Medieval Transitional Ware LMTII (P402) - ca. 1400 - 1600, 1 piece of Glazed Red Earthen Ware (P425) - 16th - 19th Century and 2 pieces of English (P438) - 1680+
- Mattock, shovel and spade. Conditions: extremely sunny and sweaty!
