  • Trench 1 within Ben Scar Cave was positioned in an area just inside the drip line, this area was slightly raised above the lowest (and therefore, dampest) part of the cave. The area was sheltered by the overhanging roof and due to the south facing position of the cave gained maximum sunlight.
