- Romano-British dragonesque brooch from Victoria Cave
Registered Find Basics
Interpretation
-
- This brooch is fashioned in a typical Roman dragonesque shape that first appeared after 43AD, mixed with Celtic elements. It is 3.62cm long and would originally have been decorated with colourful enamels. It was found in the back of Victoria Cave, where it has probably been placed by members of a Romano-British cave cult sometime after 70AD. Accessioned in the T Lord Collection.
