Narrative

    • This is the line of a former stream passage and becomes impassable to humans after c 22m. It may have been a nesting area for hyena during the last interglacial as they tended to seek out isolated enclosed spaces for nesting and this part of the cave was open at the time of this occupation. There, is, however no definitive faunal evidence of such an occupation at present. This was allocated VA14 in LUAU 1995 survey (Quartermaine, J. 1995. Victoria and Albert Caves North Yorkshire: Archaeological Survey. Lancaster University Archaeological Unit. Lancaster)
