- Romano-British spindle whorl from Victoria Cave

- This Romano-British spindle whorl is 4.4cm in diameter and was made of sandstone. It was found together with 14 similar objects in dark and difficult to reach areas at the back of Victoria Cave and probably deposited in the context of a Romano-British cave cult that started around 70AD. The object was possibly created using a lathe.

- "(Di. 4.4 cm). Smooth but slightly irregular, convex base with traces of flattened zone at outer edge. Flattened midrift with basal groove and wider slightly concave zone above. Truncated conical top with two concentric grooves and flat but angled upper face . Central piercing with distinct taper from base to top. Light grey micaceous sandstone. Slight damage to piercing on upper face and one midrift chip. It is possible that the piece has been turned on a lathe." Accessioned in the T Lord Collection.
