- Flint scraper
Registered Find Basics
Interpretation
-
- A chisel arrowhead. It was manufactured on a Levallois-like flake by truncating the butt end and opposing edge with bifacial retouch to form an approximately triangular shape. The tranchet edge of the tool has discontinuous alternating removals that are likely use-related edge damage. It is in relatively fresh condition and made of dark grey flint. It measures 39.6 x 43.4 x 6.9mm. Chisel arrowheads are most commonly associated with the later Neolithic and early Bronze Age, dating c.3500-2250 BC (after Green 1980). (Dr Joshua T Hogue)
