  • Test Pit 12 was located next to Test Pit 11 to further investigate geophysical anomalies, and was excavated to a depth of 0.65m below the ground level. The basal deposit was a compact brownish grey silty clay (12003) with bluish inclusions excavated to a depth of 0.40m. This was sealed by a layer of subsoil (12002) comprising compact brownish grey sandy silt that contained small rounded pebbles. Topsoil (12001) was at the top of the sequence, consisting of compact mid brownish grey sandy silt with very occasional small sub angular stones. Pottery was recovered from the topsoil (12001) and include a mixture of medieval and post-medieval sherds (Malvernian Ware, Bristol Redcliffe Ware, earthernwares). Artefacts recovered from the subsoil also include seven pieces of bone, one fragment of CBM and one piece of lead.
