Narrative

    • There were three possible early walls revealed in the southwest corner of the trench. These were F305 (3021), F307 (3025) and F306 (3026). The relationship between 3021 and 3025/6 is uncertain as they are abutting each other however it is hypothesised the 3021 is the later wall as discussed below. F306 and F307 were both N-S aligned, with F307 (3025) built on top of and on a very slightly different alignment to F306 (3026. It is likely that they are the outer wall of a structure, however it is uncertain as to what the structure is due to very few diagnostic finds being recovered. It is possible that these features make up part of the chapel which was revealed to the east of this trench, in Trench 1, in the 2019 season.
