Narrative

- F305 is very substantial, at 1.10m wide and was E-W aligned. It abuts (3025) very clearly with a thick layer of mortar or wall plaster trapped between them indicating that this wall is the latest of the three. We saw another thinner skim of whiter wall plaster of the south face (sample 15) that was very well bonded to the stone. This wall may have been constructed to split an internal space that was being used as a room, white plaster was seen in patches on the southern face of this wall which indicated that it was potentially the inside of a room. This wall was constructed directly on top of the red clay layer (3024) which sits patchily on the bedrock. We could not see any cut or fill events associated with the construction of this wall or any later robbing events. Although the wall did not run continuously into the eastern part of the trench it was seen in the section running through the middle of trench.
