    • Wall running East West through trench, visible at Eastern end in slot, return of 4040. Dolostone, roughly shaped, random coursed two courses visible, wall foundation, north and south faces, whitish lime mortar.

    • Return of wall 4038. Dolostone/ limestone, Largest - 0.37 x 0.6 and smallest 0.03x 0.10, average 0.26x 0.15 size of materials, combination of roughly hewn and dressed, roughly coursed and limestone mortar bonding, wall foundation, faces are east and west, hard light whitish mortar with very small sub angular stones <5%.

Narrative

    • The earliest wall seen in trench 4, also seen in trench 2 in the 2019 season of excavations. It was located in the SE corner of the trench. It was truncated by two features, F405 a circular pit, possibly part of a drain and F406 a square feature that was built into the wall. A much later E-W aligned wall, F404, was built over the top of it. It sat on top of the made ground F400.
