Narrative

    • The latest layer of activity, capping almost everything was a gravel and rubble layer, F309. It was split between north and south and was given different contexts, (3001) was the gravel in the north (3002) was made up of more rounded cobbles in the northwest corner and (3003) was rubble made up of sub-angular and angular stones in the northern part of the trench. All of these contexts were in the same grey brown clayey silt. This was the same in the south of the trench with (3004) given to a rubble/gravel layer. (3002) is possibly part of another feature in the northwest corner, F304, as discussed above. Within these contexts large quantities of nails, animal bone and pottery were recovered, with a higher concentration to the north of the trench.
