Narrative

    • An earlier structure defined by wall (2012) of which only a single course was observed. This structure was overlain by the accumulated occupation deposit (2017) upon which the later wall (2008) was constructed. The east-west wall of the building remained in a better state of preservation than the north-south wall observed at the eastern end. The north-south wall was discontinuous and fragmented after 4.5 m on length. Within the interior of the building, a degraded floor surface of sub-angular stones (2017) packed into a sandy silt was covered in a spread of charcoal and coal debris. A number of areas of heat affected clay were present on the floor.
