Interpretation

- When initially uncovered, we interpreted this as either a continuation of large N-S wall 3020 or an abutting wall. It appeared to take a small right-angled turn then continue to run north under the baulk of the trench. We noted a thick layer of soil underneath it and that it was not constructed directly onto the bedrock as with 3020. After removal of 3013 we were more inclined to consider it a particularly ordered part of the rubble within 3013 as although it did look quite linear and perhaps deliberately placed, it did not look like something substantial or well-constructed enough to be considered a wall.
