- Copper alloy strap fitting
Registered Find Basics
Interpretation
-
- An incomplete small decorative copper alloy strap fitting of probable Late Medieval to Early Post-medieval date 1550 – 1750AD. It has a rounded knop with two transverse indentations flaring to a narrow tapering body. The front is convex and the reverse is hollow. There are two integrally cast copper alloy spikes on the reverse that are bent and slightly broken that would have secured the fitting to the strap. The form of this find suggests an early date range even though it has the integrally cast spikes
