Registered Find Basics

Interpretation

    • A small piece of cast lead sheet fragment. An incomplete cast lead sheet fragment of this type is likely to be structural and dating to Medieval and Post Medieval 1200-1800 AD. There is no sign of rouletting which usually occurs on lead sheet of a more recent date, and the extent of patination may suggest that this piece is older. The fragment could indicate a staged removal of lead sheet or flashing. This lead could also have been a part of a window, possibly for leaded glass.
