Registered Find Basics

Interpretation

    • Copper alloy object noted in the excavation as a bicycle lamp. It is circular in two parts comprising a front and back plate. The backplate is inscribed with the name JOSEPH LUCAS LTD then No 3 inside a winged motif (King of the Road) then the numbers 54. The object is a component part from the top plate of a lamp for a vintage bicycle King of the Road carbide lamp made by Joseph Lucas Ltd Birmingham. The diameter is 50mm; thickness 14mm and the weight 30.35g.
