Explore the open archaeological data from our digs at Leiston Abbey

  • When I'm not digging I'm doing archaeology at Sheffield University.
  • I'm currently travelling the length and breadth of mainland Britain doing a research project on Premonstratensian abbeys. And as Leiston is a Premonstratensian abbey I was keen to get involved.
  • The coin, even though I didn't find it, to see it so closely was amazing. Matching up my research with the findings on site and looking at the old fishponds with Brendon was great. Meeting everyone, all of the staff have been really helpful and professional. The electronic recording was really great. I had a jolly good two days, I'm really impressed with the standards, professionalism and technology that is here. You can tell that this is different to what many people experience on an archaeological dig, it is in a different league.
