Contexts
Narrative
-
- A circular feature and rectilinear spread were identified with both GPR and Resistance survey. Trench 5 was defined by A circular deposit of mid yellow brown silty clay and angular flint cobbles (5002), set into a circular foundation trench [5013] for a later post-medieval agricultural building. he structure was associated with a cobbled yard surface [5005] relating to the rectilinear anomaly identified by geophysics.

Dating Narrative
-
- No bonding was observed between the cobbles in the circular foundation trench [5013] for a later post-medieval agricultural building though post-medieval pottery and fragments of slate were recovered from the surface of this deposit and a horseshoe. Although the cobbled yard surface [5005] was assumed to be contemporary with the circular structure, no stratigraphic relationship could be determined within the logistical confines of the trench. A mixed assemblage of CBM was recovered from this trench, dating from the Late Medieval to the Early Post-Medieval period, some of which showed evidence of burning and reuse prior to deposition in this area.
