Interpretation

    • Dump layer beneath (7010) coming on to a mortar layer. Contained 2 coins; one medieval token (14th century) and one earlier 12th-13th century coin (Edward 1st) hammered silver.

    • Mid grey brown clay sand, overlain by deposit (7010). Multiple animal bone pieces, teeth and smaller fragments, a floor tire piece dating to the 17th to 18th Centuries and mixed pottery sherds were recovered, in addition to a Jetton (SF95) – continental, probably 15th Century (Tounai).

  • width: 0.65+ length: 3.10+ depth: 0.30
  • This deposit contained animal bone fragments, mixed pottery sherds ranging from Late Medieval transitional ware (c. 1400-1600) to glazed red earthenware (16th – 19th Centuries), glass and a copper alloy French jetton, probably dating to between 1340-1380.
