Interpretation

    • Assorted building material, possibly incorporated into a dump having been taken from destroyed buildings from a range of sites. Air pockets imply it has been turned over. This context appears to underly the entire trench and is overlain by (7002) and (7003).

    • Mid black/brown fine clay sand with frequent inclusions of modern brick and poorly sorted rubble with frequent air pockets. Finds included heavily corroded metal, modern glass, unidentifiable rubber, porcelain, and occasional shell. One of a number of interleaving dump layers in this part of the site, this deposit extends across whole trench. Overlies Deposit (7005).
