Interpretation

    • Same layer as (4009), truncated by [4012]. Fill of ditch [4018].
      • Kerry Ely

    • Soft blue grey clay, similar context as deposit (4009), had likely formed as water settled in the moat as standing water on the south side of the ditch. Occasional tile found impressed into context edge dated to the early post-medieval period and charcoal. Truncated by later recut [4012 & 4015].
