Interpretation

    • Cut into clay (4002). This cut on field side, same as [4013] which is cut on kitchen side. Initially thought of as a moat cut, later as (4020) identified as waterlain became evident that cut/slump is of later date.

    • Main cut of moat, Likely to be same as 4013 (cut on southern side). Feature boundary was extremely diffuse, identified only at the northern end of the feature, it became evident through excavation that the feature was too deep to fully excavate within the logistics of the trench.
