Interpretation
-
- The first layer was thought to be a Tudor waste deposit because we found Tudor tile and mortar in the layer. Also this layer was full of animal bone and oyster shells with intermitant bits of burnt material. This would suggest that this rubbish has come from the kitchens of the Tudor Manor House which came after the Abbey

- Half this context within the trench Pottery assemblage consists of 1 pc Surrey Whiteware (P356) - 13th -mid 15th C., 7 pieces Late Medieval Transitional Ware LMTI (P401), 1 pc Raeren/Aachen Stoneware (P405) late 15th - mid 16th C. and 1 pc Frechen/Cologne Stoneware (P407) - mid 16th - 17th C.
