Interpretation

    • Cemented building material, possible structure. Large area in the north of the trench including pieces of cobbles, slate, CBM and mortar indicates demolition / levelling layer, verifying demolition deposition (7004)

    • Mid yellow brown grey fill of channel, constructed for drainage purposes. Recorded in plan in the north west of the trench (step 1 & 2), including large quantities of building rubble, cobbles, slate and CBM. Overlies Deposit (7004). 7 fragments of animal bone & 2 tooth fragments recovered from this context.
