Interpretation

    • Dump of mainly roof tile. Largely plain tiles with few pantiles. Probably thrown in during kitchen rebuild or earlier demolition phase - Kerry Ely

    • Mid brown silty clay, containing a large quantity of tiles dumped, probably as a consequence of renovation or demolition of the adjacent Guesten Hall. Finds included slag, glass bottle stopper, iron (modern corroded nails), oyster shell, a post-medieval roof tile fragment and fragments of limestone.
