Interpretation

- In the writer's opinion this is where the mortar (16009) really ends, although not clean and possibly dragged along by ploughing, the mortar is still there, however it is indistinguishable from what is left of the subsoil (16002) and therefore has been given a new number; from the end of clean and easily visible (16009) to the end of any trace of the mortar mottling the subsoil (16002)

- hard compaction
- mid orangey grey
- mortar (16009) aswell as subsoil (16002) so sandy mortar and sandy clay
- plenty of chalk fleck and small rocks, streaks of mortar as well as small bits of CBM (likely medieval)
- Length 1.80m Width 1.76m
- this is a mixture of remnants of subsoil (16002) and remnants of mortar (16009)
- mostly wet, sunny intervals
