- Cu alloy buckle fastening
Interpretation
-
- A Medieval to Early Post-Medieval cast copper alloy single-loop buckle probably dating 1250 – 1500 AD. The buckle is D-shaped with a worn and broken ring; the spindle has broken off at the weakest points, the corners of where frame and spindle meet. The buckle is similar to sword belt buckles dating 1250 – 1400AD but this example is larger and the metal appears to be later.
