    • Fill of gully [11005]. Filled with firm-plastic mid-dark brownish grey sandy clay. Inclusions include occasional small pieces of charcoal, lots of variously sized flint and occasional small chalk pieces. Roof and floor tile fragments (including SF3) recovered from this fill were dated to the 13th – 15th Centuries.

Description

  • firm - plastic
  • Mid - dark Brownish grey
  • Sandy clay
  • Occasional Small pieces of charcoal, lots of various sized flint and the occasional small chalk piece
  • Single fill
  • In addition in the fill we found lots of various sized brick & tile, one lead shot as well as one item that looked similar to a tesserae.
  • Troweling in windy & dry but overcast conditions & final stages/cleaning after overnight rain
