  • In real life I'm an Artist/Illustrator with my own business called Marty's Artworks, but I also work part-time for Caspian Flame Grill as a delivery driver, 3 evenings a week (although I sometimes cover odd shifts at weekends, such as this week) as earning a living as an artist isn't easy!
  • I want to support this project primarily because I have a passion for history (I'm a bit of a history nerd as I'm always researching stuff!) and archaeology is something I've always wanted to try, with a view to perhaps getting more involved in archaeological projects in the future. I'd also like to get involved as an archaeological artist, drawing the finds as well as creating artist's impressions of sites as they might have looked in days gone by.  I've never had the opportunity to do this before, so I'm really looking forward to it!   This project also appeals to me because I moved up to Cumbria from the south nearly 3 years ago, and I love learning about the local history of the area as well as Cumbria as a whole. To see some of Workington's history being uncovered "in the flesh" so to speak, will be fascinating, so I hope there will be lots of finds to look at and learn about!
  • it’s inspired my imagination enough to make me want the 6 week course. This whole project has got me hooked. I don’t this project to go on the back burner. I want to dig through archives for the next 12 months to have as much information as possible to keep it alive
