Interpretation

    • Cut of large shallow pit, circular in shape with gradually sloping sides, and a flat base. The feature was adjacent to the limit of excavation on the eastern side of the trench, and had been truncated by a test pit associated with earlier investigations. Filled by (1073). Excavated to the north of the main cluster of posthole features, it was likely to be a tree bole and could be relatively recent.
