Narrative

    • This feature has been interpreted as a robbed out column base, the robber cut measured 1.22m long, 1.18m wide and 0.38m deep. It was filled with poorly sorted limestone/chalk rubble. The column base is one of 7 uncovered probably forming part of a winged corridor villa. The column base cuts an earlier pit. The date of the robbing event is unknown however it is likely it took place in the 5th Century or later.
