Narrative

    • A moderately large oval pit in the centre of trench 5, it is located within the ring ditch F#512 but probably unrelated. The pit was straight sided and flat bottomed. It had a length of 3.02m a width of 1.80m and a depth of 0.35m. It contained two fills, the primary fill was (5172), a firm bright yellow brown sandy clay with frequent chalk pieces and occasional small rounded pebbles. The secondary fill was more a lens on the top to the north of the pit, (5040) was a loose dull greyish brown silty clay.
