Narrative
-
- An Iron Age storage pit with three fills, cut by a Roman burial F#518 and cutting gully F#517. The pit had three fills, an initial natural slumping event (5159), perhaps the side of the pit collapsed in a little, or some of the initial fill after the Iron Age people dug the pit some of their backfill fell back in? Then there was a small silting event (5158), this could represent a period of heavy rainfall whilst the pit was open, and only extends over the natural slump. (5096) represents the final silting up and filling of the pit once it had fallen out of use.
