Interpretation

    • Secondary fill of bell shaped pit [6257], consisting of redeposited natural and large stone inclusions. Second layer of activity within use of large pit - may suggest an intentional dumping layer? Layer has a lining of large stones, which have been disturbed by the burrowing activity, but could suggest an intentional sealing of previous layer , (6258), for continued use as storage?

  • 40% stone inclusions - redeposited natural with chalk & stone pebble inclusions. Ranging in small - very large stone inclusions.
  • Length - 1.66m Width - >1.63m Depth - 0.11m
  • Highly truncated by animal burrowing
  • Half sectioned, hand excavated, wet.
