Short Description:
Cut of infant burial with SK4709.
Issued to
Henry Callender | 12/02/2020

Interpretation

    • Cut of small infant burial with SK4709, and fill (4710). 6 iron nails were found and on the north side of the cut all parallel and facing towards the skeleton, however none were found on the south side. Possible coffin or shroud pins? No other evidence of a coffin. Burial is in same alignment as nearby burials [4248] and [4711]. [4711] and [4714] are two nearby burials that also contain infant skeletons.

    • In parts of the cut, there are up right large stones lining it, unclear reason for this as they do not continue around the whole cut.
