    • Extremely worn Roman silver denarius of Mark Anthony legionary type, travelling mint. Obverse: [ANT AVG] above and IIIVIRRP [C] below; galley right (possibly oars and standard placed at the prow visible). Reverse: [...] below; Legionary eagle (aquila) between two standards. 30-31BC. These coins were struck by Mark Antony for the use of his fleet and legions when he was preparing for the struggle with Octavius, which culminated in the Battle of Actium on the 2nd of September, 31 BC (Grueber, 1970, 526). Reece period 1: dating to 32-31 BC. RRC page 196, number 1224, similar to SF-48EEC3 and HAMP-A6D72E on the PAS database. Although it was probably struck between 32-31BC, Some legionary denarii remained in circulation until the 3rd century AD. Diameter 17mm.
