Dig-Venturer

Explore the open archaeological data from our digs at Barrowed Time

  •  I'm a retired secondary school teacher living near Kendal
  • I was involved in archaeology back in the 70's at Lancaster University where I took part in quite a number of digs and was a supervisor on some sites, mostly Roman - Watercrook, Lancaster, Bowness on Solway amongst others. I haven't taken part in practical work for many years but couldn't resist joining the Lindisfarne project as it is such a special place which I visit regularly throughout every year.
  • Another really interesting dig which I found fascinating. I didn't know looking for quartz pebbles and flint could be so interesting! I also liked the fact that all the supervisors were so encouraging and explained why you were doing something.
